These rules apply to every Listing, photo, Message, and Review on Renthings. Content is checked automatically before other members see it, and our Operators review anything the check is unsure about. A Listing that breaks a rule is not published and you are told which rule and why, so you can edit it and have it checked again. A Message or Review that breaks a rule is not delivered. Repeated breaches can lead to a Suspension.
- Sexual content. No sexual content or services, and no nudity in photos.
- Political and religious content. No Listings whose purpose is political campaigning or religious proselytising, and no political or religious messaging in Listing text or photos. Ordinary items used in religious or civic life (a prayer mat, a flag for a national day event) are allowed. Judge the purpose of the Listing: where an ordinary item merely arrives with political or religious material attached, that is a review, not a rejection.
- Illegal and regulated items. Nothing that is illegal to own, sell, or rent in Singapore, or that needs a licence the marketplace cannot check: firearms and replicas, weapons, controlled drugs and paraphernalia, vaporisers and e-cigarettes, gambling equipment, prescription medicines and devices, counterfeit goods, government-issued IDs or uniforms, covert surveillance devices, non-compliant personal mobility devices, live animals. An accessory or part that is lawful on its own (a scope, a holster, a charging cable, a carry case) is allowed when the Listing does not also offer the regulated item itself.
- Stolen or unowned items. Nothing the Owner does not own or is not entitled to rent out.
- Unsafe items. Nothing recalled, damaged in a way that makes it dangerous, or described in a way that invites unsafe use.
- Spam. No repeated, keyword-stuffed, or off-topic Listings; no Listings that exist to advertise something else.
- Off-platform dealing. No asking to pay, deposit, or arrange outside Renthings, and no sharing of bank details, payment links, or messaging handles for that purpose. Swapping a phone number or an address in order to meet for a Handover or a Return is allowed; what is not allowed is moving the money or the Rental itself off Renthings.
- Harassment and hate. No threats, harassment, slurs, or hateful content aimed at a person or group.
- Personal data. No publishing of another person's personal data. Your own contact details, shared so the other party can reach you about a Rental, are yours to give.
Messages and Reviews
Messages and Reviews are checked against sexual content, spam, off-platform dealing, harassment and hate, and personal data. The other rules apply to Listings only.
